Ecostore: Kinder to Our Planet

Ecostore: Kinder to Our Planet

Ecostore is a New Zealand-based brand that manufactures plant and mineral-based home, body and baby care products sans all those harmful chemicals. In layman terms, their products are healthier and safer for both you and the planet.

I’ll be leaving Singapore soon, so I haven’t had a chance to try out these products, but in line with their approach, I would like to do my part by raising awareness and to move people into action — which could be as simple as choosing eco-friendly products over normal products.

Ecostore was started by entrepreneur, author and sustainability leader, Malcolm Rands and his wife Melanie, in the basement of their home in an eco-village in New Zealand in 1993. Since then, they have established themselves as the preferred eco brand in New Zealand and Australia.

The kind folks from Ecostore sent me a bag full of their eco-friendly detergents to check out. These included Fabric Softeners, various Laundry detergents and even a bottle of dishwashing liquid.

To be honest, they all smelled pretty funky… Very organic if I had to put a term to it? Haha. But apart from the smell, it’s a major reassurance to know that there aren’t harmful unnecessary chemicals in them.

They even included a T-shirt! Haha, a pleasant surprise.

Some customers have reviewed the products, and this is one of them:

We tend to overlook chemcials in the lotions and detergents we use, especially if we don’t have harmful reactions to them. But after finding out about these products, it reminded me of the organic market that I was exposed to when I was WWOOFing in Canada. Organic chemical-free living goes beyond the food we eat, and should extend to the products we use, from soap, bags and in this case, detergent! It seems insignificant, but I’m sure every bit counts.

I don’t usually place that much of an emphasis on buying organic products, especially cause it’s easier to stick to brands that I’m familiar with. So I totally understand if you don’t want to try these products, especially since they are new to the market. But sometimes change is good! I’m as new as most of you to the organic market in Singapore, but I’m glad to see it growing. The more organic producers, the more affordable the organic market will become!

The products have been launched in Singapore, and you can find the selection at NTUC and Cold Storage as seen in the photo before.

I honestly wish I had time to try it out before I blogged about Ecostore, but these few days are pretty hectic for me, so I had to resign to just sharing about Ecostore’s cause and hopefully encourage you all to support them… for the good of your health and Mother Earth’s as well πŸ˜€

Merry Christmas Everyone!
